A rich history, a developed industry, and lots of interesting attractions. In a nutshell, that’s what Maryland is. We’ll leave the industry to another article. Today, we’re here to talk about all the attractions in Maryland that you should definitely visit. Of course, the history of Maryland is intimately connected with some of these attractions. Whether you live in Maryland, or you’re planning on moving or traveling there, there are plenty of fascinating things to see. Without further ado, here are some of them.

If you have something on your mind, it’s a good idea to postpone seeing all the beautiful attractions in Maryland

Before we begin, it’s worth noting that checking out all of these wonderful attractions is much more pleasant when done in a relaxing atmosphere. If you’re nervous about something, or you have some duties or deadlines on your mind, it’s best to try to get it all over with it before visiting these attractions in Maryland. Whether you’ll be traveling alone or in a company, having a clear mind and being present in the moment, right there and then, will get you the most out of these attractions. For example, if you’re moving to Maryland, don’t do it on your own, but get the help of a professional moving company such as Allstate Moving and Storage Maryland. Doing so will allow you to focus on all the beautiful things we’ll talk about in this post.

The Ocean City

With that out of the way, we can begin. We’ll start with the amazing Ocean City. Famous for its Boardwalk, Ocean City is, as its name implies, a relaxing place where you can spend a quiet weekend, or even the entire vacation. The Boardwalk itself is where everything happens. Fun rides and games, interesting stores, and some great food can all be found at the Ocean City Boardwalk.

In fact, the Boardwalk is well-known for its food. Funnel cakes and buckets of caramel popcorn are especially tasty. There’s nothing quite like spending an afternoon at a serene beach, eating beautiful high-sugar food. Of course, doing so won’t get you slim and trim, but it’s definitely worth it! And you’ll be able to lose weight while enjoying some of the most fun games we’ve ever played! It’s almost worth it to put on a few pounds thanks to the Boardwalk’s supreme food, just to have an excuse to indulge yourself in games in order to “lose weight”.

Kent Island

Next, we have Kent Island. This was the first English settlement in America whose role was to be a bartering station of sorts. This means that there are a lot of amazing (and amazingly old) buildings on Kent Island that you can feast your eyes and aesthetic senses on.

And what better way to do than, again, while eating! If you’re into seafood, you’ll love it at Kent Island, as there are a lot of exquisite seafood restaurants on the island. Of course, if you get the professional services you may need when moving, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy Kent Island’s delicious seafood while simultaneously enjoying the mood created by the historic scenery.

Baltimore Inner Harbor

Of course, there’s excellent food at the next attraction as well. The Baltimore Inner Harbor is, not surprisingly, well-known for its amazing seafood. We especially recommend a place called Rusty Scupper. Legend has it that anyone who enters this restaurant will have a hard time leaving for the next seven days. And this goes for the people who generally dislike seafood as well.

Once you’re done eating (and a week has passed), check out some of the incredible nightclubs at the Baltimore Inner Harbor. This is a downtown area of a big city, and that’s clear to see as soon as you arrive. The urban lifestyle there is as trendy, fashionable, and full of life as in any other big city. Elegant shops, beautiful sights, and did we say nightclubs? It’s all there, and it’s all wonderful! Okay, maybe the nightlife is better for people who are living in Soho, NYC, or in some other nightlife center of the world. Still, it’s hard not to be impressed with Baltimore Inner Harbor’s extravagant nightclubs.

Among all attractions in Maryland, the Assateague State Park is certainly the most serene. Located on Assateague Island, next to the Atlantic Ocean, this is the only waterfront park in Maryland. However, that’s not the only reason why we’re recommending this park. Even if Maryland was full of waterfront parks, we could hardly imagine any one of them being better than the Assateague State Park.

Actually, we’ve visited this park right after traveling to the extremely beautiful Chiapas, Mexico, and the Assateague State Park has still managed to blow us away! Maybe it was because it was so different from Mexico, but we believe that’s not the case. Simply, camping at the Assateague Island and enjoying “hanging out” with its wildlife (including waterfowl and wild horses) is something that anyone should experience. And there is a lovely historic town called Berlin nearby. An idyllic scene for an amazing weekend.

Other popular attractions in Maryland that you should visit

  • Deep Creek Lake. During the winter or fall, many people choose to retreat to the idyllic Deep Creek Lake. Comfortable rentals, beautiful scenery, and some interesting people that you’re bound to meet – all of that makes Deep Creek Lake very enjoyable.
  • Walter’s Art Museum in Baltimore is one of the most interesting museums in Maryland. Asia, Europe, Ancient Egypt… The exhibitions are varied and always fascinating!
  • And while we’re still in Baltimore, we have to mention the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Their orchestra is highly skilled, but they’re not only great technicians. On the contrary, they’re some of the most soulful musicians that you’ll ever have the pleasure of hearing.
  • We’ll conclude with the most creepy of all the attractions in Maryland – the Forest Haven Asylum. Don’t worry, as this asylum has closed its gates in 1991. There are no loonies there now. Just abandoned creepy buildings with a disturbing history. If you’re into horror, you’ll have a great night at the Forest Haven Asylum.
