More than 1,500 live exotic turtles found duct-taped and stuffed in suitcases.

Philippines – About 1,500 live outlandish turtles -a few controlled with duct-tape have been found in interior of an aircraft passenger’s gear, Philippines specialists said on Monday, as they promised a crackdown on the profitable natural life trade. The turtles and tortoises were found at Manila International Airport terminal on Sunday within the gear of a Filipino traveler, who had arrived from Hong Kong, covered up among dress and shoes.

The creatures, which had a add up to worth of 4.5 million in Philippine pesos ($87,000), were likely set to be sold, the country’s Bureau of Traditions organization said in a Facebook post.

Three of the species found, the star, redfoot and African impelled tortoises are classified as powerless by the Universal Union for Preservation of Nature (IUCN) but are habitually sold as portion.
